Bush Kindy Program

Introduced in 2017, Bush Kindy has become an integral part of our curriculum. Our educators are deeply committed to delivering the best possible experiences to your children and have completed the one-day Introduction to Forest School workshop. Additionally, we are proud to have two qualified Forest School Leaders Level 3 at our centre, ensuring the highest standards of safety and expertise during Bush Kindy sessions.

Our Bush Kindy program encourages the young children to engage in unstructured risky play and use different tools including:

  • Educator supervised woodwork benches with real tools and accessories such as hammers, nails and saws, drills, and electrical saws.
  • Loose parts play – providing children with items such as plastic pipes, milk crates, large reels, ropes, pulleys, wooden boxes, sticks, logs, etc.
  • A fire pit, where children can cook a variety of foods under the supervision of our educators and learn about the value of fire, and to remember how to always respect its power.
  • Allowing children the opportunity to climb, jump, and challenge their unique individual physical skills
  • Using climbing apparatus in different ways.
We believe that Nature Play sessions, Bush Kindy adventures and spending time outdoors, away from the traditional classroom setting, assists with the overall development and wellbeing of all children. Regular visits to the same natural settings enable children to connect to their surrounding environment. By nurturing connections with nature and others, we hope to foster stewardship of the earth and a sustainable future.

In addition, we have been voted runner up QORF Outdoor Education Nature Play Award and have won the Outdoor Educator Award -The Fear of Risk.

Our Curriculum Centred on:

Play-Based Experiences

More than anything, we believe in the power of indoor and outdoor play and it is clearly reflected in our curriculum at each stage. Our educators carefully craft activities that encourage imaginative and sensory play. We also continue to put special emphasis on unstructured outdoor play. Our outdoor programs focus on nature play and introduce a variety of tools, fire, and loose parts to engage children in unstructured play. As a result, young children develop essential life skills such as confidence, resilience, teamwork, and social-emotional intelligence.

Problem-Solving

At Clearview Kindy, our curriculum especially focuses on the problem-solving skills of young children. We design activities that encourage them to explore different possibilities, take risks, and discover the best solutions. Through hands-on experiences and guided exploration, children learn to approach challenges with creativity, resilience, and critical thinking. It also helps build confidence, boost self-esteem, and promote a sense of independence. Our goal is to empower them to confidently tackle problems they encounter, both in the classroom and beyond, laying a solid foundation for future success.

Experiential Learning

We believe in encouraging children to immerse themselves in a diverse array of activities that promote hands-on exploration and discovery. At Clearview, we have taken several initiatives to promote experiential learning such as caring for small animals, nature play, and safe use of tools. Children are encouraged to help care for and gain an understanding of small animals, such as chickens, doves, cavies (guinea pigs), fish, turtles, and a worm farm. Within this program, they recycle lunch scraps to feed the animals, change the water, and collect the eggs daily to use in our cooking experience. This experience helps build awareness of the environment and nurtures their curiosity about the world.

Collaboration & Communication

At Clearview, we embrace collaborative learning as a fundamental aspect of early childhood education. Through collaborative learning experiences, young learners are encouraged to interact with their peers, exchange ideas, and cooperate with each other. Whether they are exploring nature together, solving puzzles, challenging each other to climb up and down muddy hills, or engaging in group activities, collaboration promotes teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills from an early age.

Clearview Rooms & Programs

We have carefully tailored our programs to meet the early learning needs of different age groups. At Clearview, we have allocated different rooms based on the age groups including:

Our Centre provides care to the following age groups:

  • Bilbies (Babies) – 6 weeks to 15 months
  • Possums (Toddlers) – 15 months to 2.5 years
  • Joeys – 2 years to 3 years
  • Wallabies – 2.5 years to 3.5 years
  • Kindergarten – 3.5 years to 6 years

Daily Routines & Programs

Each day, our dedicated staff plan the daily routines for your child involving different programs and activities that cater to their developmental needs and interests. The program plan and a concise summary of the day’s activities are seamlessly shared with parents/carers through the Storypark App. Additionally, every child’s learning journey, accompanied by photos capturing their experiences, is documented and shared on Storypark, providing parents/carers with a window into their child’s daily adventures. This platform also encourages meaningful conversations and community engagement, allowing parents/carers and educators to interact and share insights.
