Environmental Awareness

Through the commencement of our Bush Kindy Program, our children have become very aware and passionate about our local environment. Through weather extremes that have resulted in floods, children gain understanding of mother nature and the impacts that occur with unusual weather phenomena. The children observe changes in the Bush Kindy sites and respect the need to allow different sites to regenerate growth in order to maintain the ecological biodiversity of the environment. Children understand the impact that rubbish has on our ecosystems; therefore, we are members of Tangalooma Eco-marines. The children are keen to participate in community events such as, ‘Clean up Australia’ and weed control in conjunction with ‘Bush Land Care’.

Environmental awareness is continuous. We consistently take gloves and bags to remove rubbish from the local area. Our education is further continued in the classroom setting with identification of local flora and fauna along with environmental impacts from gasses and water cycles, all of which enhance our sustainability practices.
