Water Safety

As many of our children attend swimming lessons, and because we have access to a creek through our Bush Kindy sessions, we feel it is paramount to ensure water safety is an important part of our program.

We encourage children to share their learning from their extra-curricular activities that we then practise in our creek. We discuss all aspects of our creek with the children and enable them to assess the risk of being in and around its waters, such as; if the levels have risen from recent rain, if it’s flowing too fast, if the banks near fast flowing water are too slippery etc. Our creek area descends from the local Hinze Dam; therefore, we are aware when water has been released and may impact water levels and flow.

Our staff to child ratio is higher when we are in and around water.
