Safe Use of Tools

Children have the opportunity to use a variety of tools.

Within our Centre and Bush Kindy Program, children can use a variety of tools in a safe and productive way. The children have a small number of safety rules regarding; how many tools are used, they risk assess the dangers of the tools and identify the importance of their correct and safe use.

Within the centre grounds children can learn the correct method of how to use hand saws, tape measures, hammers and drills. Through this process, we have built go-carts, tyre swings, a recycle centre, tables etc.

Within the Bush Kindy Program, children will have the opportunity to use a bow saw, axes, whittling peelers and hand drills to help make a variety of structures such as; rope bridges, shelters and ladders, water rafts, marshmallow roasting sticks and drawing sticks to assist with their play.
